About Forest Bathing

During a Forest Bathing session, we take a slow walk, take part in guided sensory activities, helping you to unwind, connect with the natural environment, and boost mental and physical health.

What is Forest Bathing?

Forest bathing is based on the Japanese practice, Shinrin Yoku, which can be translated as “taking in the atmosphere of the forest.”

What’s the background behind Shinrin Yoku?

Around 40 years ago the Japanese started researching the benefits of spending time in nature, to be specific, forests. The results were startling and so significant that this therapy is now delivered on their health service. The therapy is called Shinrin Yoku.

What are the benefits of Forest Bathing?

There are some wonderful potential benefits associated with Forest Bathing. Research includes an array of benefits such as reducing stress, improving sleep, boosting mood and memory, and enhancing immune response. Please see links to research papers here.

What can I expect in a Forest Bathing Session?

During the session your Forest Bathing+ guide will lead you through a series of simple sensory activities designed to help you feel more connected to the natural world—calming both body and mind. We’ll also share some fascinating insights into the science behind why spending time in forests is so good for our wellbeing, including the health benefits of simply breathing in woodland air.

The heart of the session is about giving yourself the space to relax. By stepping away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and really noticing the sights, sounds and scents around you, you may find yourself seeing the forest with fresh eyes—perhaps with the curiosity and wonder of a child.

Sessions are typically 2-3 hours long, each session is an opportunity to slow down, feel more grounded, and nourish both mind and body, it includes guided sensory activities, insights into forest wellbeing science, and time to truly unwind under the trees.

We keep group sizes small to ensure a calm, personal experience.
